My dear daughter,
I want you to be aware of who you are, where you are, and where you are headed at any point in time in your life. In doing so, you can be present and conscious of being alive and living. When you think about it, we often in our daily lives are preoccupied with what happened “yesterday” which is dead and gone, or what will happen “tomorrow” which is yet to come and may never come. In truth, what we have is now. Be present in the now! Appreciate all that is happening in your life – live and enjoy your life.
If you are present in the “now”, it makes you know how you are faring, and if you need to stay on the path you are proceeding along in life. If you need to make changes, have the courage and the tenacity to do so. Change takes courage and determination because we are often mentally and physically lazy to take the steps that change requires. Change can lead to growth – growth that is beneficial physically, materially and spiritually. So make changes in your lifestyle if you determine that is what you need to grow.
Sometimes to make the required change, you have to consciously loosen your grip on everything that’s behind you so you can step forward with grace. Do not let your attachments hold you back from making any changes you deem necessary. Holding onto the past can hinder progress in life.
Growth can be painful, and so can be change. But in the end, nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere in the past and not being present in the now, savouring the moment and counting your blessings.
Love you always.
Dad
