One of my favourite pastimes is gardening. The satisfaction one derives from seeing what they’ve nurtured come to fruition makes one appreciate even more the beauty of creation.
I started gardening at a tender age courtesy of my parents who introduced me to plants like hibiscus and roses among others. Watering the plants and pruning the leaves taught me timeless life lessons of patience and delayed gratification.
Remembering my impatient younger self willing my flowers to blossom and the wise words of my dad, “Son, just as everything in life has its time and season, so too does your plant. Do the needful and at the right time, you would see it blossom.”
Words that has stayed with me as I journey through life. I have my dreams and aspirations and with the patience of a gardener, I nurture them with my right thoughts, and actions patiently working steadfastly and with determination to attain my goals. Indeed tending to my plants has thought me that nothing worthwhile happens over night. You plant, you water, you tend and you reap the fruits of your labour in due season giving rise to joy and happiness for task accomplished.
In essence, good things come to those who wait and do the needful after sowing the seed.
