Whatever you say has a way to work itself into manifestation. In this regard we should choose to utilise words that manifest positivity and not negativity and limitations. Our persistent utterances either overtly or subconsciously place constraints or inhibit our progress or development.
Don’t
Do you want your trajectory to be in a positive direction? Do you want to make progress in all aspects of your life? I am sure you do. However, before you can do this, you have to take note of the key words that you are persistently using to ensure that they evoke positive rather than negative images. Uplift your life aspirations with these simple changes in language. By doing this, you will be changing the trajectory of your destiny, you will feel great about the present and actively engage with your future.
Can’t
This word connotes so much negativity. Remember the Barack Obama slogan during his first presidential campaign? – “Yes We Can”. The truth is that “Yes You Can!” All things are possible to him who believes. You can do anything you choose to do and are willing to fight for. Nothing worth doing is usually easy, so substitute Can’t for CAN. As Zig Zigler puts it, “Success means doing the best we can with what we have. Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be.”
Success starts with the correct mental state, and the word “can’t” inhibits you from conceiving anything substantial, let alone achieving what you have conceived. Also bear in mind what Mark Victor Hansen said about success – “Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what? Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.”
Never
This word should be used to depict the possibility of achieving your goals, and not used in the negative. It is positive to say: “It is never too late” or “Better late than never.” Not statements like “I can never do this”. This word used in such a negative way evokes the image of finality. The truth is that none of us can really say which way the cookie will crumble, so you should not limit yourself from growing into the person you’re destined to be in the future by “nevering” in the negative.
Try
As Yoda remarked, “Do or do not. There is no try.” You either do it, or you do not do it. To try is to admit defeat at the outset. Try sometimes goes with “I will do my best”. Go beyond trying and achieve. Winston Churchill had this dictum “It is no use saying. ‘we are doing our best’. You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary.” Trying is not good enough, doing your best is not good enough. Watch the words you use to ensure that they evoke the right images in your mind’s eye, and take the steps to make your life a success.
