The internet is crowded, and this is really an understatement. Big corporations, startups and millions of individuals are pitching their products and services daily. It is extremely difficult to get your message heard in the cacophony of messages being put out there. So how do you give yourself half a chance to ensure your message is noticed, read and spurs people to buy into what you are offering?
First, you need to understand the rules of the game in order to be successful in pitching your business and building it up:
- In today’s world fast paced world, time is the most cherished resource.
- You only have a few brief moments to become memorable.
- Your pitch/posts should be out there on a regular basis.
- There must be a human aspect to everything that you write when pitching your product or service.
Fundamental points to remember when pitching your product or service:
- Keep your post short yet effective. This is especially true when using social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- A good test of a precise pitch is an effective and unique sentence to describe what you have to offer.
- Ensure that your pitch stands out so that lined up against others, you are offering an authentic and personal product or service.
- Keep it simple or you lose your audience. Avoid the use of exaggerated phrases such as incredible, indescribable, amazing, acclaimed, or any phrase that would be considered unnecessary boasting.
- Your pitch should focus on the benefits and significance of your product or service. More detailed information can be shared as links. For example, posts on social media can provide links to extended blogs on your website. This is a good strategy because if your pitch is terrific, people spend some time reading about your business – by choice!
- Where a management or a PR company is handling your pitch, make sure to check on everything before it goes out to ensure it tallies with your brand’s essence and mission statement.
- Effective marketing is about emotional connections and if you can’t establish that each time you put something out, the public will not envision how it can add value to their lives.
- As human beings, we want to learn, experience and develop along positive lines. And we also want to buy into what gives us the best value for our money. If your target audience cannot get this from the message you are putting out there, you are just a lone voice crying in the wilderness with no one paying attention.
