My dear daughter,
When it comes to making decisions about things you have to do in your life, I ask you to remember an Igbo proverb which says, “Water you want to drink should not be swooshing around in your mouth.” Make the move – swallow the water.
Most times in life, you often think that you’re just not quite “ready” to take that important step. You make the excuse that you have to make the move at the right time to get it right. But when it comes to making the next move, you don’t need to have everything set. If you keep waiting for the right time to make that move, you may end up waiting endlessly.
Time is now! This is the right time to start. One day begins a story. Once you take the first step in the direction you want to go, the journey has started. Once you make the move, and continue to take the baby steps or giant strides towards your goal, chances are that you will attain the goal. Yes, you may misstep, you may stumble, you will not be perfect every step of the way. Life is a journey and we all learn on the way. So, do the best you can until you know better. Once you know better, you do better.
Make that move right now my dear. The way to success is to step forward whether you think you are ready or not. As you take each next step, you begin to figure out which way and how to go, and with time you become good enough.
Standing still, you have no momentum. Momentum and progress are what build confidence and erode apprehension. So you have to get going, you have to start moving. There really is no right or wrong time. The time is now! Make that move right now my darling.
Love you always.
Dad
