“When it comes to teaching our children about society, the content they consume plays a major role” says Agnes Soyode-Johnson, co-founder and GM of Limitless Studios, the creators of OmoBerry.
Nowadays children are bombarded with images and ideas from all angles, and as parents, it can often be difficult to find content that adds value to the minds of our little ones. OmoBerry was created with the purpose to educate, entertain and empower children of colour – who aren’t often represented in mainstream media.
OmoBerry is a 3D animated show full of nursery rhymes, kids’ songs and culturally represented themes for children of colour between the ages of 2-8yrs.

Each episode is curriculum-based and viewers can join characters such as Bisola, Kezie, Kunle, Chiamaka and Aishat on exciting adventures as the kids learn about their world via educational nursery rhymes and storylines, explore topics about culture and diversity and accumulate life lessons and self-help skills. Their playfulness, curiosity and fun-loving natures are a central part of each adventure!
In honour of IWD 2022 Limitless Studios decided to explore the subject of gender bias in a way that would appeal to very young children. According to Soyode- Johnson, “At that age, they are already starting to be taught by society that girls do this, and boys do that. Whether it’s football or ballet, these are activities, skills and interests that should be open to all children, regardless of their gender.”
In ‘Let’s Celebrate Women’ the OmoBerry girls learn how to navigate the big emotions that emerge when one of the boys blurts out a degrading joke. With some gentle guidance from their teacher, the girls finally gather the courage and confidence to find, and then use, their voices. They teach the boys that anyone – girl or boy – can do anything they put their mind to if they put in the effort and hard work first. The embattled friends also learn that it’s not always necessary to provide proof that you are worthy. As the episode ends, the friends reach an understanding and learn that it’s not always a matter of what you say, but how you say it!
