We conclude our three-month campaign of celebrating women in finance with the consummate financial expert who thrives in transforming organisations, which is evident in her current role as Executive Director – Finance of UACN Property Development Company Plc. Pride Magazine Nigeria’s editorial team is pleased to celebrate our Woman of the Month – Mrs Folakemi Fadahunsi.
Folakemi has over 20 years’ expertise across various sectors in organizational transformation, and in particular financial transformation and cost optimization. Her experience cuts across consumer markets and the public sector. It is no wonder she occupies other notable positions in the corporate world such as being a Non-Executive Director of UPDC Hotel Limited (formerly Golden Tulip Hotel) and Devonsley Limited.
Beyond her successful career, Folakemi is passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation. She has trained over 400 youth on how to manage their own businesses under the Lagos State Agric Youth Empowerment Scheme, and she continues to mentor some of the youths from this scheme.
Folakemi also gives back through positions she occupies on boards – serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of Fadahunsi Education Foundation, and the Ark Foundation for Widows and Orphans.
Folakemi surprisingly does not have an initial background in finance but her Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Physics from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife put her in good stead to pursue and attain a Masters of Business Administration from the prestigious Alliance Manchester Business School, UK.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. She is currently studying for a PhD in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at International School of Management, France.
One of Folakemi’s favorite mantra is: ‘’Ensure that you have character capital. Integrity is capital.” Integrity has been her greatest asset through which she has built a remarkable career inspired by faith, humility, and crowned with success.
