I am sure that the title of this article intrigues you – I believe in God. Who is this God that I believe in?
“GOD IS LOVE.” – 1 John 4:8
Now that we have said who or what God is, the question is who has seen God?
We all have seen “God because God created man in his image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” – Genesis 1:27
Each human is an expression of the creator God. So we do not need to go looking for God in faraway places for he dwells in you and every human being.
“Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God.” – 1 John 4:7
“I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. ”– John 13: 34
“If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar; for whoever does not love a brother whom he has seen cannot love God* whom he has not seen.” – 1 John 4:20
“Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, love is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
“The world must know that I love the Father and that I do just as the Father has commanded me.” – John 14:31
The greatest expression of God’s love is communicated to us in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”
Romans 5:8 proclaims the same message: “But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.”
Love is an attribute of God. Love is a core aspect of God’s character, His Person. God’s love is in no sense in conflict with His holiness, righteousness, justice, or even His wrath. All of God’s attributes are in perfect harmony. Everything God does is loving, just as everything He does is just and right. God is the perfect example of true love.
Because God loves us, we express our love for Him through our loving relationships with our fellow human beings.
