‘Let It Be.’ These words remind us that we cannot control everything. There are some things, which just happen. We just have to tell ourselves to let it be.
But it is hard to do that sometimes. Often, we find ourselves trying to take control of something in which we have no power over its outcome. We think we have the power and the know how to do everything as a result of our tendency to want to be in total control of our lives and have a say on how everything turns out in our lives. We develop our own strategies to figure a way out of our situations and predicaments. We think if we do this or do that, we can resolve the problem and overcome the challenge. Oftentimes, we are not able to resolve the situation by ourselves.
When we are faced with situations we cannot fully control or influence its outcome, we need to let it be. The truth is, the more we try to influence the outcome of what is not within our control, the more frustrated and stressed out we get. We have to acknowledge that time and chance happens to us all, and quite a number of things are not within our control and thus we just need to let it be.
What is important for us to remember in situations that are not within our control is to know that “God is in Control”. If we turn over our concerns to God, letting go and resigning the outcome to God, He will work out the situation according to His will and design for our lives.
In this life we should tell ourselves that quite a number of situations that we have to confront can only be resolved by our total recourse to the creator of the universe. We need to pray and turn our problems over to the creator who knows everything about us, and having done this we can count on Him to inspire us on the steps to take to get out of our predicament. We should have recourse to God when faced with impossible situations and allow God to use us to work out our situations. God will reveal to us through his Holy Spirit how to resolve the problems and crises, which we face during the course of our lives. The spirit of God will resolve all situations so that all things work out for our ultimate good.
Believe it or not, we cannot know more than God. The truth about life is that, if God cannot do it no one can, and if God does not want it to happen, it will not come to pass.
Have you tried to help someone take better care of themselves, place a premium on themselves by making better choices with relationships, or did everything within your power to help someone avoid a major disaster, and failed in all these your good intentions? Just let it be. Some people have to learn from their own experiences.
If you are one of those who like to fix things and people and situations, it will help you to remember the prayer of American Theologian Reinhold Niebuhr – “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.”
