Groups were a big deal in the 90’s and for some reason, music seemed better when there was a marriage of vocals that created harmony. Any music aficionado conversant with music from the 90’s would know that there were several groups that were an all-time favourite despite their eventual disbandment.
Today, we are throwing it back to our favourite music groups from the 90’s.
K-Ci and Jojo
At the time when most African American artists were venturing into hardcore rap, this R&B duo serenaded our eardrums with love songs.
Boys II Men
This 90’s quartet R&B group banded by Nathan Morris; Shawn Stockman; Wanya Morris; and Michael McCary, was prominent in emotional ballads. They reached the peak of their musical success in the 90’s when they set the new record for longevity, staying at the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for thirteen weeks and knocking Elvis Presley off that spot.
TLC
The fun girl group with a quirky style which featured T-Boz, Left Eye and Chilli was formed in 1990. They were a hip-hop group that didn’t just have us tapping our feet and nodding our heads, but stepping and bursting moves to every beat (when we weren’t trying to dress like them).
Destiny’s Child
The complicated creation of the once quartet group, Destiny’s Child, which was active from 1990 to 2006 featured Two constant members, Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams who joined in 2000 replacing LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett. Despite the hiccups they faced in creating the perfect girl group, they still made the 90’s musically worthwhile.
