Braid is a natural hairstyle that never goes out of style. It has taken a lot of format over the decades and many ladies opt for braids especially during the yuletide season. It appears to be the hairstyle choice for the season and if you are not on braids you are out of style.
One good reason for going on braids is that it is a protective hairstyle. Now that harmattan has shown signs of taking over, having braids would save ladies from breaking their hair and other hair issues. If you are naturalista, you need to prep your hair well before braiding. This is how to go about it:
1. Wash your hair with shampoo
Start by cleaning your hair and scalp by washing your hair with a shampoo. Since it is a protective hairstyle that would be carried for up to two weeks or more (mostly without the intent of washing in between).
2. Deep condition your hair
Just as every hair vendor would tell you that a leave-in conditioner is what you need to sustain your curls well, deep conditioning is what you need to maintain the softness of your hair and also reduce dryness.
3. Oil your scalp
Get your essential oils, Vitamin E, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil or your favourite hair cream and make sure they are applied directly to your scalp.
4. Massage your scalp
After oiling your scalp, take at least one 1minute to massage your scalp as the last prep step. Then massage from the outer corners to the mid-section and then back outside again.
