If you are a party rocker or an ‘owambe‘ specialist, you would always aim for the wedding reception than the main church or civil wedding. This is because all the fun, food and games happen at the wedding reception.
In fact, it has been observed that most people ditch the wedding ceremony for the wedding reception. While the church or civil wedding ceremony is going on, some people are already at the reception filling up spaces. This goes to show the extent of the ‘power’ of the wedding reception. So intending couples should make their wedding reception fun and entertaining. A good way to achieve this objective is by infusing games.
Here is a list of games couples can play at their wedding reception:
1. The shoe game
This involves the newlyweds taking off their shoes with their backs to each other. The MC asks them personal questions and they are to answer with the shoes. This game shows how well the couple knows themselves.
2. The Blindfold game
The groom would be blindfolded and ask to touch several ladies to identify his wife. This is a tricky game but the groom should be able to sense his wife from other ladies through touch and other senses.
3. The Gele game
Wedding guests or bridal train are asked to tie gele on men. The person who ties the nicest gele carries the day.
4. Dancing competition
This game usually involves the bridal train and sometimes the wedding guests, who come in twos to showcase their best dance steps. The winner is the person with the best dance moves.
5. Spin the wheel
The couple and guests are challenged to spin the wheel and do whatever it lands on.
