When your scalp itches constantly, it may be a sign of skin conditions like dandruff, psoriasis and others. Over time if not treated, the outcome can lead to severe hair fall and breakage.
Perhaps you have dandruff or lice in your hair, there are home-made remedies to combat these problems. Ladies with oily and sweaty skin can also make use of the remedies listed below:
- Coconut oil
You need to apply oil to your scalp regularly because dry scalp causes itchiness. You should moisturise and massage your scalp with coconut oil. Do this twice a week to prevent itchiness. You should add a few drops of vitamin E oil for best results.
- Baking soda
The antibacterial and anti-fungal properties of baking soda kills pathogens that cause hair dryness leading to itchiness. Baking soda also neutralises your scalp’s pH level. You would need to mix 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda in water and apply the paste on your scalp. Then leave for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off.
- Olive oil
Its strong anti-inflammatory and skin protectant properties prevent itchiness. When you apply olive oil on your scalp, it also heals inflammation. Simply massage your scalp and hair with warm olive oil. Leave it overnight and wash off using a mild shampoo the next morning.
- Lemon Juice
Lemon juice has antimicrobial properties. Based on its acidic nature, it is effective in healing inflammation. Apply fresh lemon juice on your scalp using a cotton ball and leaving it for 10 minutes, then rinse off with water to stop itchiness.
- Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar acts does not act as an astringent but clears the scalp. It contains strong anti-fungal and antibacterial properties that removes dead skin cells on your scalp that are causes itchiness. Apply apple cider vinegar on your scalp. Mix a bit of water in apple cider vinegar and then massage your head with it twice a week to stop your scalp from itching.
