For most women, fashion and style go hand in hand with their lifestyle. They love the smell of luxury, making fashion statements, keeping up with the latest trends, dressing for success, etc. However, this could be tasking as an adult because there are several things to think about that are competing for our attention.
As a firm believer in looking good always no matter what, there are numerous great ways to look stylish without having to live for fashion or even break the bank. Whenever you wear what you love, confidence comes as a buy product. It is no gainsaying that it is the confident energy that people actually admire not necessarily the brand of what you are wearing.
Today’s post points out some subconscious habits controlling our style/fashion choices and how we can replace them with five (5) healthy fashionable stress-free stylish habits. These include:
1. Ditch trends
Avoid jumping on every trend because they do not last, and investing in them might be a complete waste of money over time. Rather, invest in vintage, timeless and staple pieces that would stand the test of time.
2. Invest in classic pieces
Classic timeless pieces are those fashion items that would never go out of style, irrespective of what season or year you wear them. You can wear them without feeling your style is out of fashion. No matter what you would always appear elegant, stylish and timeless. Common examples of timeless pieces include anything in silk, longline blazers, white basic tees, white & blue-striped shirts etc.
3. Shop from your closet
Declutter your wardrobe so you can efficiently shop from your closet. One good thing about decluttering is that it gives you the actual picture of what you have and can wear, as opposed to what you think you have and can wear. To be productive in this exercise, some of the things you can do include taking out clothes: that do not fit anymore. Instead, focus on clothes that can be repurposed; clothes we can create new looks from with another item; or clothes we can thrift out to cloth merchants for cash, instead of always shopping for new things.
4. Build a capsule wardrobe
A Capsule Wardrobe is a combination of clothing items to serve a particular purpose. The idea here is to build a capsule wardrobe around your daily life, body type, environment and colour pallet. This way, irrespective of where you are going to or colour combo you want to put together, what you have will always work because your wardrobe has been built in such a way that your colours’ work with each other, your type of clothes feed your lifestyle and environment.
5. Dress for yourself
Don’t be under pressure to dress to impress rather just be yourself and be happy. Confidence and comfort are the most important factors when it comes to fashion and style because no matter how expensive your clothing is without these factors you are going to be seen as trying too hard.
