Daily we are bombarded with the ideal fashion image on social media. Looking fashionable may seem expensive. Worse still, keeping up with the ever changing fashion trends is more expensive. However, fashionistas have been able to make the most of every season by making their budget-friendly outfits work for them. The process of looking fashionable does not really have to come expensive.
As far as you know what outfits to wear, where and how to get them, you are fine. Here are 5 tips for staying fashionable on a budget:
1. Go for timeless wears
These are fashion staples that are never out of fashion. It starts with building your wardrobe with the basics, that are free and easy pair with other wears. These include plain t-shirts with simple necklines in multiple colours, a pair of form-fitting blue jeans, simple ballet flat shoes, a decent jacket or blazer in a dark color and a black skirt/trousers.
2. Look for discounted items
Invest in clearance sales. Many fantastic pieces end up in these stores due to an inability to move product, or sometimes because a store simply needed to make space for new goods, meaning you’ll find great pieces at low prices in these stores. When prices have been slashed for out-of-season clothing, it gives you a chance to stock up on especially well-priced wears.
3. Swap or sell with friends
Instead of giving away unwanted clothes to charity or throwing them away, see if your friends are interested – then ask if there is anything in their wardrobe they don’t want anymore. You can swap clothes with your friends and give new life to unloved pieces. That way everyone picks out new pieces to freshen up their wardrobe.
4. Add character to your dressing
Even if you are not carrying the latest designer’s bag or rocking the most expensive wear, once your clothes are clean and presentable and you wear a good fragrance, you are good to go. All you need is to stay confident and charismatic.
5. Create your own style
Don’t be pressurised to look a certain way. You can take cues or get inspired but you don’t have to spend a fortune to look like another. Create your personal style and feel good about yourself.
