People have different reasons to go into marriage. They need to check their motives so that it does not backfire. However, marriage should be built on love, trust, and friendship. Before committing to spend the rest of your life with somebody else, make sure it is not for any of these reasons:
1. You are of ‘marriageable’ age
There is no deadline when it comes to marriage. With the pressure of getting married before 30, many people have missed it. You should marry when you are emotionally, financially and spiritually ready.
2. Marriage would solve all their problems
This is very wrong. Anyone who goes into marriage to just be served by the other person would not find happiness. Marriage is teamwork. Some singles think that marriage would solve all their problems. With marriage comes peculiar challenges especially if you are not whole as a person.
3. You want to impress people
Remember that after the wedding day, you are now left with your spouse to face the world. Don’t marry to impress your friends or people. Marry the one who loves you and you love too.
4. Out of pity
Don’t marry someone out of pity. rejections are bad but don’t do something that is sacred and divine such as marriage without any convictions. There must be something that unites you with your spouse.
5. Fear of being single
The same way people rush into marriage is the same way they rush out. Take your time, singleness is not a disease. Use the period to develop yourself. Never think there is a scarcity of a good spouse.
