With the lockdown gradually easing away, offline events can hold. This means couples can have the outdoor wedding they envisaged. The wedding guests have to be modest when attending weddings. They need to bear in mind that it is all about the couple so the spotlight shouldn’t be on them.
While it is normal for every lady to want to look her best and ‘dress to kill’, there are certain considerations she must take as a wedding guests. One of them is her choice of outfit.
Here is a rundown of 6 outfits a wedding guest should never be caught wearing:
- A white dress
In order to not appear like you are competing with the bride who is also dressed in white, it is better to wear an outfit of another colour. Most times there are colour codes given. That should be a guide on what to wear. Follow the dress code unless the bride wants you to wear white or you are part of the bridal train whose outfits are white.
- Over skin-revealing outfit
It’s inappropriate to wear outfits that short and skin revealing. Trying to be modest does not mean you should cover up totally. You can show some skin and still look classy and elegant. When you overdo it then it is wrong and unacceptable.
- Jeans/ casual outfits/sneakers
Save the jeans and casual outfits for informal occasions like night with your friends, clubbing, date night or hangout. Ripped jeans is inappropriate. Sneakers are too relaxed for the wedding, replace with heels. For a wedding, you should wear a stunning outfit that shows respect for the couple.
- All black
An all black affair is a big no-no. You are attending a wedding celebration not a burial ceremony. While black is sultry, it does not fit the mood for a wedding. If you have to wear black, spice it up with other bright colours as accessories.
- Shorts/Playsuits
These are too casual and shows disrespect. Instead of wearing shorts or playsuits, substitute with a well tailored jumpsuit or gown.
- Leggings
This is not allowed. It is too informal for a wedding ceremony. Wear a well-tailored trouser with a nice blouse on a pair of lovely shoes and you are good to go.
