It’s been a stressful period, you need sometime to pamper yourself and get your groove back. The good news is that you don’t have to pay for an expensive spa treatment because you can get it done in your home.
Here are 8 at-home spa treatment to rejuvenate you:
1.Body scrub
It is good to exfoliate your skin regularly to remove dead cells producing dull, dry skin. A body scrub made of some brown sugar and olive oil together with or without honey would fight dry and acne-prone skin. You can add lemon or orange for a nice fragrance to your body scrub and use in the shower.
2. Foot mask
The feet like every part of the body needs to be taken care off. Mix equal quantities of oatmeal, corn meal, sea salt and olive oil to make a foot mask. Also, add few tablespoons of aloe vera gel to mixture with a few drops of refreshing peppermint oil. Apply to feet and massage in. Leave for a few minutes before washing off.
3. Face steaming
Face steaming is a good way to cleanse your pores, helping to promote clear and glowing skin. Fill a bowl with boiled water and leave to cool slightly so that it doesn’t burn your skin. Add a couple of drops of essential oils, such as tea tree oil for acne-prone skin, lavender oil for oily skin or rose absolute oil for dry skin. Steam your face for a few minutes by leaning over the bowl with a towel covering your head to trap the steam.
4. Softening hand treatment
To soften your hands, try using a moisturizing scrub made from 1tbsp olive oil and 1 tablespoon sugar. Apply some of the mixture on to your hands then massage in circular motions all over. After a few minutes, rinse of the mixture with warm water until most of the oil has been washed off, then pat dry. Then rub a moisturizing hand cream or lotion.
5. Deep conditioning hair treatment
For a natural conditioning treatment, try mashing up an avocado and apply directly to your hair to moisturise and nourish it. You can also apply a beaten egg to hair, leave for 10 minutes, then rinse off with cool water.
6. Milk bath
The lactic acid in milk softens your skin. Milk baths can also be soothing for those with eczema or psoriasis. Add a few cups of whole milk or some milk powder to your bathwater. You may also mix in some essential oils and honey.
7. Skin brightener
Pawpaw and pineapple, which contain alpha hydroxy acids, are great natural exfoliators and skin brighteners. To tighten and brighten your skin, blend some papaya with yogurt and honey and apply as a face mask. Leave on for 10 minutes then rinse off. You can also pour some pineapple juice into ice trays and leave in your freezer overnight. Apply the pineapple ice cubes over your skin and leave for five minutes before washing off.
8. Puffy eyes
If you have puffy, dry or irritated eyes, try a homemade remedy to soothe and refresh. Cool tea bags/potato slices and cucumber are good traditional remedies to cool and soothe the eye area. For the spa feeling, light some candles and put on some relaxing music and lie back with the tea bags, cucumber or potato slices covering your eyes for 10 minutes.
