My Dear Daughter,
There are many people in life who get stuck at the planning phase; they are obsessed with ensuring things are perfect before they turn the blueprint of their idea into pragmatic actions, causing them to remain stagnant. Don’t fall into this category because, although, planning is an important ingredient in your quest for success, action will help you arrive at your destination.
I know caution, in its exaggerated form (which is fear), can be a limiting factor to be reckoned with, but the confidence you seek can only blossom when you take the first step. You should take solace in the fact that no one is born confident, just like learning a new skill, confidence is developed over time through consistent and intentional acts.
I have oftentimes, in my letters, admonished you to avoid the downward spiral of procrastination because it’s a luxury that kills your dream before it even takes off. It is said that procrastination is the thief of time. My dear, procrastination is not just the thief of time but also the thief of your life. I don’t want you looking back with regrets as the years roll by. Later may be too late.
Begin now. No one starts off being great and no one is perfect every step of the way. Even the most successful women made (and still make) mistakes, but they learn, adjust and move on. Learning through the process rather than fearfully backing out ensures you live your life to the full. The Mammy Wagon Philosopher writes on the back of his lorry: NO ONE KNOWS TOMORROW. These words hold valuable meaning because all we have is now, so, do what needs to be done now.
Action takes courage and as they say “fortune favours the brave.” My dear, be courageous and brave.
May good fortune smile on you as you step forward without hesitance through your life’s journey.
Love you always,
Dad
