My Dear Daughter,
When you are making efforts and it seems futile, you may be told by those around you – friends, colleagues or associates – that you’re not trying hard enough or perhaps you feel this way about yourself.
My dear, the saying that “No pain, no gain” (or to put it another way, “no cross, no crown”) is one of life’s realities. In life nothing comes easy and even though you don’t get it right the first time, you have to keep trying and refuse to let past failures leave you disheartened and fearful.
It is important to realize that failure can provide powerful lessons to assist you in your next attempt. Your focus should rather be on ways to overcome the fear of failure.
Many of the most iconic novels, songs, and inventions of all time were inspired by gut-wrenching pain, heartbreak, and failure. The challenges faced and overcome by these creatives were catalysts and springboards for the creation of great inventions and masterpieces.
When you have set your eye on a goal, develop a plan to help you reach your set goal, research and flesh out your plan, consult with people who can help you achieve your aim (and, please, avoid the nay Sayers), stay focused and move boldly with discipline till you attain success.
Embrace perseverance in whatever you aim to achieve because “winners never quit and quitters never win.”
Love you always,
Dad
