My Son,
A man, a real man, will not make promises he cannot keep. He chooses his words as carefully as he does his commitments. And because this man honours his words, he is in turn, respected and appreciated.
As the years fly by, life could happen so fast one starts wondering, “Where did all the years go?” However, it is never too late to say what you mean, mean what you say and do what you say. A man, a real man understands that his word is his bond, exercised by daily decisions and everyday actions. He will not drift through life selfish or disconnected, like someone who has an indecisive mind. I cannot overemphasize what I said earlier, a man, a real man, will not make promises he cannot keep, and chooses his words as carefully as he does his commitments.
Unfortunately to some men and women, this may translate as “make no promises” and “make no commitments” so you can’t be held accountable. “I’ll try” “We’ll see” and “Maybe” are their mantra; and this my son are excuses for failure. The honour and integrity comes not so much in avoiding promises, but making them in order to keep them.
My son, a man’s word must be his bond.
