My dear Daughter,
The human emotion is a tricky and equally powerful force. It propels us to cling to things we should otherwise discard. Sometimes these things manifest in the form of material objects that we bestow sentimental values on when in reality, all they do is clutter our lives. Other times it’s unseen and intangible, yet our emotions are voluntarily warped up as a result of its existence.
We carry around emotional baggage that we should have let go of aeons ago. Of a truth, my dear, there is so much you can and should let go of without being perturbed. In fact, when you do this, you’ll be amazed at how the quality of our life will be improved. So, why should you find comfort in clinging to things you have no need of?
My dear for the sake of your mental and emotional wellbeing, you need let go of it if,
- It’s not working
- It’s the pain of past hurts
- It’s the pain of disappointments
- It’s the pain of goals not attained
- It’s habits that inhibit your progress
- It’s routines that lead nowhere
- It’s mindsets that are holding you back.
You’ll be unable to make positive progress if you keep clinging to things you should let go of.
Saint Paul puts it so succinctly: “Forgetting those things that are behind, we reach forth to those that lie before…”
You have to consciously let go of everything that’s behind you, so you can step forward unshackled. We are all guilty of undue attachments to things we should let go and unaware that we’re blocking our own progress by doing so.
In the present moment, you may have some kind of pain; anger, sadness, frustration, disappointment, regrets, etc. as a result of past events, however, it is over; it has passed.
My darling, growth is painful and change is difficult. But in the end, nothing is as painful as staying stuck in the past – a one-way street to nowhere.
No matter the difficulty and pain you’ve experienced in the past, you should not let it colour or ruin your present. Let go and move on.
Love you always,
Dad
