My Dear Daughter,
Please do not waste your energy reacting to every bad thing that happens to you as this can only serve to drain you and stop you from seeing the other good things happening in your life and in life in general.
Also learning not to react to things that upset you ensures that you do not give someone else power over your emotions.
My dear, you can’t control what others do but you can control how you respond, how you handle it, how you perceive it and how much of it you want to take personally.
Another thing to bear in mind is St. Paul’s advice in Roman’s 12:18 –“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”
Yes my dear, if possible, as far as depends on you, live in peace with all men but avoid trying so hard to win anyone over because this is a waste of time and energy and it fills you with nothing but emptiness. You can’t please everybody.
Really and truly, you don’t need the drama. You don’t need people who make you feel like you are not good enough. You do not need the anguish, disagreements, arguments, faked feelings of concern or love, and fake connections. Most of the time, these situations say nothing about you and a lot about the other person.
I brought you up showing you through my words and actions that I love you. Love yourself my dear because that will be the armour and the shield you need against the people who try to bring you down. Loving yourself will save you when people try to shake your confidence or when they try to make you feel like you are worthless.
My darling, remember what I have told you time and again, “Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here” – Desiderata. You also have a right to wholesome self-expression without looking to others for approval.
Love you always,
Dad
