My daughter,
I have made so many mistakes in the past and I am sure that I will make more in the future. As a human being you will make mistakes. Just one or two mistakes? If you should be so lucky. You will make countless!
Of course each and every one of us make mistakes – several in the course of our lives. The important thing is not to make any of them twice. If you do mess things up, don’t try to hide it. Don’t try to rationalize it. Recognize it, admit it and learn from it. It is one thing to make a mistake; it is another thing to keep making it. The point is that one should be willing to take the lessons inherent in these mistakes and move on, and not to be discouraged or give up.
Albert Einstein put it aptly when he said; “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”
As Paulo Coelho wrote in Brida, “When you find your path, you must not be afraid. You need to have sufficient courage to make mistakes. Disappointment, defeat, and despair are the tools God uses to show us the way.”
“Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment.” ― Rita Mae Brown, Alma Mater
“We all make mistakes, have struggles, and even regret things in our past. But you are not your mistakes, you are not your struggles, and you are here NOW with the power to shape your day and your future.” ― Steve Maraboli, Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience
My daughter, mistakes are a part of life and living. Learn from them and get on with your life.
Love you.
Dad.
