My Darling Daughter,
I am sure that you’re familiar with the statement, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
The journey to attaining your set goals can be arduous, so much so that you find yourself moving at a snail-like pace towards your goals. You’re left wondering if you’re trying hard enough.
It might encourage you to know that when it comes to the attainment of goals, the real deal is in the chase – that’s where the thrill is. The attainment is an anti-climax. So go after what you want and don’t give up, enjoy the journey to your destination including the ups and downs.
Life would be boring if we get everything we desire on demand.
You should bear in mind that in life nothing worth having comes easy. My dear, don’t let the fear of failure or the result of past failures keep you from moving forward with your life. Yes, past failures can demobilize and leave us disillusioned and fearful, yet it is important to realize that failures can also provide important lessons to assist us in trying again.
Rather than dwelling on what your past failures did or did not do to you, you should review and glean the lessons such failures taught you. Figure out ways to overcome the fear of failure and avoid past mistakes. Use your past experiences to chart a clear path to reach your new goal.
Quitters never win and winners never quit. But, before you set forth on any given destination it will help you to:
- Define your goal clearly.
- Outline how you plan to achieve this goal.
- Decide that in all respects as regards your goal there will be no retreat and no surrender. That you will never give up till you attain your goal.
- Get all relevant information about what you are aiming for and the roadmap you want to get there. Seek advice and heed the sound advice you get.
- It helps to do a SWOT (strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis of your proposed goal; why you are aiming for it and what you want to do with it once attained.
Good luck, my dear and remember, keep on trying till you attain success.
Love you always,
Dad
