My dear daughter,
As you advance in your chosen career and climb the ladder of success, when you attain certain heights, people may be praising you. Please try not to let your success get to your head or your heart. Try to be the same – the simple, humble and self-assured girl that your mum and I raised you to be. Be yourself and don’t get carried away. Even if those praising and hailing you are true and sincere, please take it in your stride, do not let this get to you and change your personality.
Always take the necessary steps to see that you are doing what is right and good. Do not let your success make you forget your friends of old and your family, or make enemies for yourself. Let your door be open to everyone, and open your mind to anyone making a point. They may be your guardian angels. No one knows it all.
Remember that everything in life its transient. The people who surround you to seek your favour may even forget you sooner than you can remember once you are no more in a position of power. Success attracts a crowd. But how many of those around you are genuine? You may be lonely someday. Even some of the people you helped may eventually loathe you.
Remember to focus in all you do to do what is right. All a person is ever remembered for is the good works they have done. The legacies that you leave in the sands of time, that is what will speak for you.
Do not trust your position, name, power, money, fame or intelligence as some type of magic that can open doors in future. “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God.” – Psalm 146: 3-5
Love you always.
Dad
