My dear daughter,
I have noticed in life that most of us often hold back from saying what we want to say. We are reluctant to honestly express in clear terms what we have in our mind to say to another person. We are reluctant to voice out our true thoughts, views, perspectives and feelings most of the time. We hold back not saying what we want to say or need to say. I say to you my dear – speak up! Don’t hide or withhold your thoughts, views, perspectives and feelings, especially when you can make a useful or meaningful contribution or make a difference. Be brave. Say what needs to be said.
Speaking up is also important in relationships. If you care about someone, always communicate with him or her in a clear, compassionate, and honest manner. Not being critical or disapproving, but with love and understanding. Sometimes the words we leave unspoken may have grave negative repercussions.
So always take up the courage to speak up. However, bear in mind that words have the power to wound and words have the power to heal, so it behooves you to think and weigh your words before you speak.
It is not always easy to speak up, but my dear, it is a great tonic for your peace of mind in relationships with others.
Love you always.
Dad.
