My Dear Daughter,
You are not responsible for everything that happens to you in life, but you are responsible for the way you spin them. Because the spin you give to your experiences determines how they impact your life going forward.
We may face traumatic, life-changing events in our life and, if we succumb to being gloomy, these events, they may ruin our life. However, if we are able to get the right mental spin on such life-shattering events, we can make the necessary, howbeit painful, adjustments to move on and be grateful and hopeful about the future.
This is a positive way to live, despite being faced with difficult life-changing events.
My dear, putting a positive spin on unpalatable situations hold true for everyday challenges, not just extremely difficult ones. For example, when in heavy traffic instead of getting flustered and frustrated, you may choose to listen to music that you love which is more beneficial.
The biggest and most challenging obstacle you will ever have to overcome is your own mind and thought pattern. Remember you are not responsible for everything that happens to you in life, but you are responsible for the spin you give them. Put a positive spin on them and get on with your life.
Love you always,
Dad.
