There are quite a few young girls out there who want to be seen in the latest designer gear, the latest iPhone, the latest cars, and not to be left out, the most expensive Brazilian weave. They desire and want all the finer things of life now! They have no time or patience for any man who is not able to give them these things right now.
If you are one of the chicks described above, you really are high maintenance! Too much to handle for the average Nigerian young man struggling to make a decent living in this harsh environment.
You may have got yourself into the mindset of finding someone to marry because of “what they have” so that you can live the “highlife” you desire or crave. Have you considered that this mindset is not the best for you? There is nothing wrong with a desire to marry someone who can take care of you, but shouldn’t that be secondary to living a genuine life that is filled with love and care?
But, if you are hell-bent on finding a rich man to satisfy your high maintenance needs, chances are that you will end up living a life of loneliness and regret. You may do well to reflect on the lyrics of “Lying Eyes” by the Eagles.
City girls just seem to find out early
How to open doors with just a smile
A rich old man
And she won’t have to worry
She’ll dress up all in lace and go in style
Late at night a big old house gets lonely
I guess every form of refuge has its price
And it breaks her heart to think her love is
Only given to a man with hands as cold as ice
So she tells him she must go out for the evening
To comfort an old friend who’s feelin’ down
But he knows where she’s goin’ as she’s leavin’
She is headed for the cheatin’ side of town
You really can’t eat your cake and have it. Yes! Every form of refuge has it price.
