Once upon a time Empire Mates Entertainment the record label owned by entrepreneur, Tunde Demuren and Ebute Meta crooner, Banky W was atop the chat as the hottest record label in the country. However several years down the line, same could not be said of EME especially after the exit of its most sought after artiste by the name, Ayo Balogun, aka Wizkid.
Recall that some time ago, Wizkid had serious squabble with the label that brought him to limelight, which almost led to his premature exit as at then. When the both parties finally settled their differences many thought Wizzy as he’s fondly called would renew his contract, but behold, h e disappointed them and subsequently went ahead to announce his exit upon expiration of his contract.
As the case would turn out, Wizkid had since bade EME farewell and one would ordinarily think the record label would have gotten someone to replace Wizzy, but the reverse has been the case. As at now EME is struggling to get its grove back ever since Wizzy left. Although Banky W who’s also signed to the label has churned out hits, he has not really projected the label’s image like Wizkid.
