It is indeed a very sad situation in this day and age that we have a good number of graduates still searching for jobs many years after graduation. It is not unusual for graduates to be unemployed six to seven years after completion of NYSC. One can only imagine how this affects the morale and mental state of the youths.
The stories these unemployed graduates narrate about their relentless search for employment after graduation with degrees in various disciplines are myriad and characterized by endless applications, interviews and rejections. This merry go round can be quite frustrating.
Without a job, one can’t make proper life plans. And, the uncertainty can be quite scary, and no doubt, causes unhealthy thoughts to run amok in one’s mind, subsequently influencing their emotions and self-confidence.
Despite your legitimate feeling, never to give up. Though this cliche, “Quitters never win and winners never quit” is easier said than done, it still carries enormous wisdom. Refuse to give up on yourself and your job search. It is not unknown to get a position of employment after writing countless applications and attending many interviews without success.
Yes, a job seeker can feel or get depressed from lack of success in getting a job. And, unsurprisingly, many give up, but, why don’t you choose to be amongst the few that perseveres? Rejection letters should not make you question your abilities. You should believe in yourself, your abilities and potentials beyond any doubt and keep on keeping on till you score success.
Goodluck!
