The Corse De La Maria Chapel Catholic Station, Nkwerre, was built in 1998 in honour and in loving memory of the Late Chief Emmanuel Onyechere Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe. The Chapel was then taken as an out-station of St. Thomas Catholic Parish, Nkwerre in Nkwerre local government, Imo State by the then Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese His Grace Most Rev. Dr Gregory Orchiagha and has remained an out-station where masses are held on Sundays and some days of the week specifically Tuesdays and Wednesdays presently.
The church has over the last twenty years held their harvest, every year on January 1. 2019 will not be different, as Corse Dela Maria Harvest planning committee will host the Harvest of Praise on January 1, 2019
Speaking on the 2019 Harvest, the Chairperson of the 2019 harvest planning committee Peace Anyiam-Osigwe said: “The theme of ‘PRAISE’ is chosen because all human beings must praise God – Psalm 103:1 says “Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name”. It is right and fitting that we should be praising God for His so many mercies and blessings upon us all and our families. We would, therefore, like to enjoin all our parishioners, their families and friends to join us for the Harvest of Praise come January 1, 2019, at the Corse De La Maria Chapel Catholic Station Church, Ukwuinyi, Umuoforolo, Nkwerre, Nkwerre local government area, Imo State.
The proceeds of the Harvest of Praise thanksgiving and bazaar will be used to support the work of the Catholic church in Nkwerre and the building of the Reverend Sisters’ accommodation; so that the blessed sacrament can be exposed on a daily basis in Corse Se De La Maria Chapel and other things that need to be done in St. Thomas’ Catholic Parish and it’s outstations. We encourage everyone to participate to support the Harvest of Praise and we look forward to welcoming you all on January 1, 2019, to Corse De La Maria Chapel, Nkwerre. The mass is scheduled to commence at 11.30 am with the Bazaar immediately after. Of course, there is no other way to start the New Year than through praise and thanksgiving to God.”
