Who wears the crown as Forbes Person of the Year? This is the question on the lips of Nigerians as Forbes Africa announced the nominees for the 2014 person of the year award, and three Nigerians made the list.
The Nigerians are businessman and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote; award winning author, Chimamanda Adichie and the director general of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), Arumah Oteh.
Other nominees are South African advocate, Thuli Madonsela who helped in drafting the country’s constitution in 1994 and was named as one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people. Also nominated is Rwandan economist, Donald Kaberuka, who has served as the president of African Development Bank.
However, industry source tipped Dangote as the likely winner due to his industrial achievements..
According to Forbes, they seek to “reward the individual who, for better or worse, has had the most influence on business on the year gone by”
The award will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2014.
