The Ghana Police have intercepted a trunk full of fake 100 American dollar notes at Mile 7, a suburb of Accra, the Ghanaian capital.
It was taken from two foreigners driving a Toyota Corolla with Ghana registration number GR 5225 -13
Arrested were Mohamed Basim, 35, a Tunisian, and Adekunle Morufden, 52, a Nigerian, who allegedly hid the fake dollars in a silver-coated trunk in the boot of the vehicle.
The Director-General of CID, Commissioner of Police Prosper Agblor disclosed that on September 23, at about 3 p.m., based on intelligence, the Special Weapon and Tactics Team from the Police Headquarters, led by the National Command, undertook a special operation at Mile 7 and intercepted a Toyota Corolla.
He said a search on the vehicle, revealed a silver-coated trunk hidden in the booth in which was full of fake dollars in 100 bills.
He said the suspects attempted bribing the police with $30,000 which they refused and arrested them.
COP Ablor said upon interrogation, Morufden confessed that they were to trade the fake dollars for GH¢300 million.
