Everyone admires a beautiful pair of cute feet, but not everyone pays attention to foot care. The feet get to take us everywhere, support us and sometimes we put them in very dirty situations we would never put any other part of the body. We can and should pamper our feet from time to time, as the pair deserves to be pampered.
If the feet get swollen: Soak feet in a mixture of water, a dozen ice cubes, six drops of tea-tree oil, and rosemary leaves. Submerge one foot for 30 seconds, remove from water, then rub energetically with a towel. Repeat with the other foot, and keep soaking until the swelling subsides.
While all soaks help soften skin, certain ones also exfoliate dead skin cells, making feet smoother. Look for products with ingredients such as milk and fruit juices, which contain natural acids that gently dissolve dry, rough patches.
To exfoliate: The feet need to be regularly scrubbed for dead cells removal as much as the face, if not more. You can’t however scrape dead cells from a dry skin, wash the feet. While washing your feet, scrub them, especially the heels, with a foot scrubber regularly. This is good for removing the dead cells and keeps your feet soft. Pumice-based pastes can swiftly eliminate scaly skin, keeping feet soft for longer. If you prefer scrubs, go for a salt scrub with added oils to help hydrate. Avoid razors and callus scrapers, which can break the skin and cause infection. And be sure to slough gently: Calluses actually protect the feet, so you don’t want to strip them away entirely.
To Pamper: Fill a tub with warm water and put a cup of lemon juice, ¼ tsp cinnamon powder, 2 tbsp of olive oil and ¼ cup milk in it. Mix thoroughly. Put your feet in the tub and let them soak in the water for 10-15 minutes. Now, wash your feet with a mild soap, dry them with a towel and apply a foot care cream.
