The harmattan is fast approaching. One part of the body that would naturally experience dryness are the lips. When neglected, the lips can become an eyesore. You don’t want to have chapped lips when they should be soft and supple for you.
The lips are attractive facial features. Some people have gone as far as doing lip augmentation just to make their lips fuller and more attractive. This goes to show how important the lips are. But is it really necessary to go under knife to get nice lips? When with almond oil, sugar, honey, tomato juice and milk infused in your lip care routine, you are good to go.
Other lip care tips come from your habits and lifestyle. These include:
1. Exfoliate
You can get new layer of fresh lips by removing the dry, dead skin flakes. Do this by gently brushing your lips with a wet, soft toothbrush or washcloth.
2. Hydrate
The lips don’t contain oil glands so they dry out easily. Instead of licking your lips, drink lots of water to prevent the lips from drying and getting chapped.
3. Moisturise
Protect your lips from sun exposure. Moisturise your lips with vaseline or SPF 15 or higher sunscreen.
4. Use the right products
The wrong lip products can cause irritation and cancer. Ensure whatever product you apply on your lips are mild and carry a seal of protection.
5. Reapply often
You should reapply sun protective lip product every two hours, especially after eating or drinking.
