When I read in the news that the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole may have decided to move on after the passage of his wife five years ago, I did not think it was anything unusual. The comrade Governor will be getting married to his fiancée, Miss Lara Fortes on Friday, May 15, 2015 with wedding invitations already sent out to close friends and associates. However I was intrigued by the information in the news item that the 63 years old Governor Oshiomhole wife to be Lara, is said to be in her thirties. My thoughts went to the issues surrounding MAY TO DECEMBER MATCHES.
One of the challenges in a May-December relationship where it involves a much older man and a much younger woman is that the couple involved is at different places in their lives. The older husband may be making compromises due to the wife’s age. The wife due to age difference may not be aware of the adjustments and compromises her older man is making.
Mismatched sexual energy is another case in point. Where this is the case, it is not amusing. Clearly, a young woman may love her much older man. However, a young, vibrant woman deserves and craves an exciting and steamy intimate life. The danger then arises that if she does not find answers at home, her eye could start wandering. This lack of sexual fulfillment could also lead to a young woman becoming passive aggressive, or fall into a depression that affects other areas of her life.
The truth is that a woman in her teens, twenties and thirties is gaining sex drive because the woman is in her sexual prime, while an older man gradually loses his sexual drive due to the loss of testosterone, the “action” hormone.
It should however be noted that most men are able to maintain a sex drive well into senior citizenship. This does not however negate the issues considered here. The point is that, if you are an older man or a young woman considering a May to December union, you will do well to consider the move carefully.
