You don’t want to start your mornings grouchy and irritable as your mood sets the tone for the whole day. Mornings are key. When you are in high spirits, you become more productive in thoughts, and have the right energy to keep you for the whole day. Before getting lost in distractions, take time to reflect, prepare and invest in self-care. Here are 5 tips to start your day on the right note:
1. Stay hydrated
Before you reach for breakfast, take a glass of water. This is a great way to be refreshed even before you wake up. A glass of water does not only works wonders on metabolism but also makes you stay hydrated.
2. Work out
There is no better way to start your day than working out. Some people are not morning persons, but dressing up for a run at 6 am or a seven-minute indoor core workout or a quick yoga session would not be a bad idea.
3. Meditate
Taking a few minutes to meditate can work wonders for your mental health. but if you don’t have enough time in the mornings for a full-fledged meditation routine, try some breathing exercises to help centre your mind and prepare you for the day ahead.
4. Talk to yourself
As weird as this sounds, self-talk can translate to be self-reflection. Author and motivational speaker Brian Tracy starts his days with positive affirmations like “I love my job”. Making yourself hear the things you need to hear to get through the day can be an uplifting way to start your day.
5. Be thankful
There would be good days and there would be bad days. In all, you have to stay thankful. Think of what could have gone worse and practise gratitude it did not turn out that way. Take a minute to appreciate the good things that happen in your life without you even noticing daily. A good meal, some good friends, companionship, even great weather! Focus on the little things that make our life better in the chaos of everyday life. This would change your mood for better.
