It is a new week to pursue your goals! Do you know you are what you repeatedly do? From your habits, it is easy to tell if you are living intentionally or just wasting time. The former is done by successful people. They are highly principled and deliberate about their actions because they have to maintain and grow their successes. They are never satisfied with the status quo. These are the trademarks of successful people:
1. They are always prepared for opportunities
Successful people are never caught unawares. They are always ready to open the door when opportunity knocks. You can never find a successful person who doesn’t know the value of preparation. By making use of the time that you have now to prepare, you are getting ready for the day opportunity knocks. This may mean getting a new skill, furthering education, switching jobs, changing location, networking, etc.
2. They follow due process
Most times, people who are so eager for success often miss out on the due process. Wisdom is the principal thing and this involves following the process. Great things take time. It takes a lot of hard work and patience to make up the success ladder. When you ask the world’s most successful people, they will tell you that paying your dues and listening to those who have already passed through where you are, cannot be overlooked.
3. Passion
Successful people burn with passion to meet their goals and aspirations. This drive is needed to achieve your goals. This is evident in Oprah Winfrey, Jeff Bezos, Ellen DeGeneres, Richard Branson and all the successful people of our time. It pours out when they talk, and express themselves and their interests.
4. Communication
Successful people are good communicators. This goes beyond sending Instagram DMs, WhatsApp Broadcasts and all that social media stuff. This boils down to actual communication which is clear, concise, and gets your message across. It also has to do with ability to network; being able to effectively relate to others is key to being successful. People are drawn to you when you are friendly, approachable, and understanding.
5. Persistence
Successful people don’t give up. They accept their failures and bounce back. It is undeniable that failures are a part of life. If you want to be as successful as some of the people you admire, you’re going to have to go through a lot of them. This is not to say it’s going to be all bad. But the truth is you have to get comfortable with having them. When you fail, accept it, learn from it and use it as a stepping stone to getting to where you really want to be. Remember, if at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself up and try, try again.
