While stress can be a positive force to push us to achieve our goals, it could also take a toll on our health. A young man once slumped while driving on the highway, it took the grace of the emergency team to come to his rescue. This is a clear case of mismanaging stress. Take a cue on how to manage stress from below:
Drive
Take stock of what is driving you. Is it the desire to make money or to get the work done? Whatever be the case, the work you do must connect with your inner purpose. Doing what you love brings inner peace. Hence, improves performance on the job.
Exercise
A brisk walk or signing up at the gym, doing what works for you is critical. Just ensure you keep moving. A sedentary lifestyle would do you no good.
Sleep
Most of the stress related diseases are attached to sleep deprivation. When you sleep well, you think well.
Talk
Don’t internalise your problems. You should have an outlet for letting off steam. Remember a problem shared is half solved.
Reorganise
Try to rearrange your work area, your schedule, your home and your priorities. Having clutters here and everywhere tends to increase your stress level.
Empathise
Try putting yourself in other people’s shoes. Be a little more forgiving, share more and give more. It would make you feel better about yourself.
Vitamin and supplements
A healthy does of Vitamin D daily is not a bad idea. The sun is a good mood booster and you can add to it by taking supplements in essential vitamins and herbal teas.
Smile
Laugh more, it eases tension.Frowning does you no good leaving you with wrinkles. It could have been worse with whatever is causing you stress.
