1.What is your personal brand?
Do a self-assessment and answer these questions: What are you known for? What are your best skills? What accomplishments are you most proud of? What are your best qualities? Enlist your best skills and how they add value to your company. Also, think of situations your skills had helped you with past employers. Then think of the unique selling point or the differentiating factors of your skill sets. By doing this, you become clear with your personal brand which would help you market yourself for success.
2. Be proactive
To take ownership of your career, you need to stop being reactive and start being proactive. You need to step of your comfort zone. When you are a reactive employer you would be waiting for your boss to give you a promotion, waiting for recruiters to reach out to you with new opportunities, or waiting for employers to email you back about your resume. Stop waiting for results and start acting to get results. Instead, you can set up a meeting with your boss to discuss advancement opportunities or make a bucket list of companies that you want to work at, and then reach out to employees at those companies to connect, and maybe even set up informational interviews.
