Godwin
Korede Bello ft. Donjazzy
It’s Don Jazzy again! Just late last year I had to keep mute when some fans complained Don Jazzy wasn’t pushing Korede Bello enough, not with the release of Di’Ja’s AWWW video that shook the whole of the Nigerian music industry. I had no answer, but like the Don knew what was going on. On the 28th of January 2015, MAVINs dropped “GODWIN”. And if my knowledge of the entertainment industry is anything to go by, then “GODWIN” will remain on people’s lips.

MOVIES
American Sniper
St. Bradley Cooper
Last superbowl weekend it was Clint Eastwood’s halftime advert that generated so much noise. Now, it’s another superbowl weekend and it’s Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” that is set to rule the cinemas with an estimated $35 million USD. For a 58.8 million USD budget movie, grossing over $200 million USD as at Thursday, January 29, 2015, this movie has shown how lucrative a true patriotic autobiography movie can be. Though not without a handful of negative criticisms, here and there the movie has not done badly at all.
On a Scale of 0 – 10, this Movie is a 7.
First Cut is the Deepest
Monalisa Chinda, Joseph Benjamin, et al.
When you think the rape story has been overflogged by Nigerian movie makers, great minds come in from another totally different angle. And like the Cinderella story will continue to be bestselling with new innovations year in year out, ‘real’ moviemakers will still tell their stories even with the audience shouting, “We have seen this before!” Production-wise Nollywood still has a long way to go, but like I always say, African movies tell our stories.
First cut is the story of a treacherous love triangle influenced by conflicting family values. Colourful movie it is.
On a Scale of 0 – 10, this movie is a 4.5.
THE DEPARTMENT
St. Osas Ighodalo, Majid Michel, Desmond Elliot, Jide Kosoko, et al.
