My dear, one thing I’m happy about is that both you and your girl are Nigerians, and I take it that she also has a cosmopolitan upbringing like you. In my opinion, what matters in any relationship is not tribe or religion but rather how compatible you are.
Do you both love and care for each other? Do you think you can both live in peace and harmony? And to borrow from the wording of most marriage vows, will you have and hold each other, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do you part?
If you both are convinced that you are committed to each other in this regard, have a heart to heart chat with your mother. Tell her how you feel and that you’ll rely on her to get your father’s blessing for the marriage. All mothers are interested in the happiness of their children and I am certain she will not be any different.
Good luck.
