A leading production, content acquisition and distribution company, “Micromedia Marketing Limited” has made history in Nigeria by producing the first telenovella drama series.
Entitled Taste of Love the 150-episode drama, is an acquired format from Latin America and Eastern Europe that is adapted locally for Nigerian television audience.
Taste of Love dates back to the Military era of the 90’s in the history of Nigeria. It depicts the friendship, betrayal and hatred among rival sugarcane plantation families, Musa- Phillips and Pepple. Ibrahim Musa- Phillips is convinced that Jonathan Pepple has betrayed him and caused the death of his wife, Maria. Until the real dark truth comes out, their children who fall in love with each other will have to overcome the family hatred.
Shot on Location in Ilorin, Ibadan and Lagos, Taste of Love, according to the MD/CEO of Micromedia, Mrs. Shileola Ibironke is set to raise the bar in the delivery of quality entertainment to Nigerians. She added that it is the first of its kind to be produced locally and set to start airing on terrestrial, cable, satellite, digital and mobile TV in October.
Ibironke noted that the main objective of the drama is to replicate the global production accustom and success of the Latin American genre of drama within the Nigerian production landscape.
Featuring notable actors such as Ayo Lijadu, Yomi Obileye, Kunle Coker, Paul Adams, Wale Macaulay, Femi Brainard,Blossom Chukwujekwu, Makida Moka, Mofe Duncan, Gabriel Afolayan and Omowunmi Dada, Taste of Love tells the story of two love birds-Hadiza and Kelechi, children of two rival sugarcane growing families who are separated by their families past and will have to overcome countless obstacles to truly be together.
“The story goes beyond love, intrigue, suspense and betrayal; it also takes us to the root of our culture and governance,’’ said Ibironke who noted that “the drama and movie industry in Nigeria has grown and improved over the years in its production style, and it is highly important to promote our industry for sustenance and future investments.”
