Nigerians woke up to the shocking news of the postponement of the presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The new date has been set to the 23rd of February – a week after the initially proposed date which was today. Patriotic citizens who travelled miles to different states, halted plans and even cancelled celebrations to ensure they cast their votes were met with the disappointing news.
Nigerians have since taken to social media to vent their pent up frustration for the last minute cancellation by INEC despite having four years to prepare.

Shame on the DG of NYSC for allowing our corpers to be treated like animals by #INEC. No provision for their welfare and billions of naira was appropriated for these elections. RT for the corpers … #NigeriaDecides2019 pic.twitter.com/zkjxUbscXq

But INEC why? The massive relocations of people, the expenses, the distabilization?
Who’ll guarantee the integrity of those sensitive materials that’ve already been sent to some locations; the materials that’ve left CBN for various locations!

We have a government that do not care about us, we lose if we stopped caring about each other. So reach out to people this election time, there are people who needs our help especially corp members left in the cold in strange places. #ThisIsNigeria#Election2019 #NYSC#INEC

You squash and expose human beings in this manner, in extreme conditions, all in the name of #INEC ad hoc staff. They painstakingly hang in, waiting for morning, to keep serving their country. Headaches! Then you tell them you’ve postponed the elections?, are you human? pic.twitter.com/Y89RAbc7gv

Commercial transporters contracted by INEC to distribute election materials have vowed not to leave the South-South zonal store of the commission until they are paid. They’ve used their buses to block a section of the busy Aba Road leading Abali park.#INEC #NigeriaDecides2019 pic.twitter.com/FmYL5lGoK3

Nigeria Eclection is a tricky one. One minute it’s not affecting you at all and the next you’re chatting up a chair. ?? After 4 year of preparing, it just took #INEC 5 hours to postpone. pic.twitter.com/4jOCWlsCfZ

Disappointed in #Inec. Sad for the countless of people that have sacrificed so much to vote. Worried for our youth corpers whose lives seem to not be valued by the government. Tired for Nigeria. It HAS to change. It HAS to and it will!!!!! #NigeriaDecides2019
