The 5th edition of Hangout with Tee – which was in partnership with Sofy sanitary pad – was a memorable experience for all in attendance as it had lucid and insightful talks by Maureen Iyasele and Oluwatobi Odukoya, in addition, were the electrifying performances by Top Sticks and Eangel and a thought-provoking spoken word performance by Kemi Ladipo. There were side engagements in between like raffle draw, dancing competitions and lots of giveaways by the event organisers. The audience certainly had a swell time.

Maureen Iyasele, Human Resource strategist and founder of the Jobmag Centre spoke to the audience about the importance of bringing their personal goals and aspirations to the level of their consciousness. It is by doing so that they would begin to see those aspirations fully manifest. Citing her experience when she worked for a top oil and gas company in Nigeria and became the lead project manager at the age of 24 years old, but always aspired to start a human resource agency and quit her high paying job in the year 2010 to pursue her dreams.

Using the majority of her life savings, she took a gamble and rented an office in Yaba and founded what is now the Jobmag Centre. Even though there were some initial hiccups owing to her lack of entrepreneurial experience, she was able to leverage the power of the internet to run online courses relevant to her new line of business then ingeniously apply it to the Nigerian market. Her story tells us that faith, boldness and dedication would get you across the finish line when pursuing your goals. More importantly by raising her aspirations to the level of her consciousness, she was able to see opportunities in her newly found field.
The second speaker Mrs Tobi Odukoya playing with the event’s theme “No Be Today” informed the audience conscious of the fact that there has always been an innate attribute of theirs, which could be leveraged upon to start a viable business. Therefore, Individuals must know their strengths and not be fixated on entering a line of business in which they see others thriving in, for their unique qualities might just be the reason why they do so. Essentially, do what comes naturally to you.

In between the talks by the two guest speakers, the audience was treated to exhilarating performances by Top Sticks, the number one female drummer, who galvanized the audience by her electrifying performance on the drums, followed by Eangel with her powerful vocals that whipped the listening audience into a frenzy and would give already established artists a run for their money, while, Kemi Aluko’s thought-provoking spoken word rendition pierced our minds and hearts with vivid poetic imagery. All these accompanied a myriad of games whose prizes were courtesy of the exhibitors such as, PatchWorks by Sabel Angels, House of Annie j, Auto Gele by Ayaba, Hair by Lily Haven, Lascent Perfumery, Craft by Moi.

In short, it was a splendid event that left the audience in high anticipation of what to expect from the next edition. We should not be surprised because, with over 4 editions under her belt, Titi (Tee) and her team have been on the row for a while now. In other words, “No Be Today”.
