Movies
OCTOBER 1
St. Sadiq Daba, Kunle Afolayan, et al.
I have always been of the opinion that ‘Kunle Afolayan might find it very hard to beat the standard he set for himself with the movie, “FIGURINE”, but if cinema figures and audience appeal are anything to go by, then Kunle has outdone himself.
A movie scene set in pre-independence Nigeria, a police officer has been called in to unravel murder and he’s given a deadline, will he unravel the mystery before the independence anniversary, will he himself become a victim? All these and many more intrigues credits the movie… seeing this movie once might not be enough, because you might get caught in the web of over-frenzy and lost the lines. Shall we begin again?
On a Scale of o – 10, this movie is a 6.1.
ANNABELLE
With a humble budget of 6.5 million USD, it is amazing that Anabelle is neck-on-neck with Gone girl (61 million USD budget), both films premiering at the cinemas at over 37 million USD. Anabelle’s 37.1 million might have been dropped from the number one on the box office by Gone Girl’s 37.5,million USD this has in no way taken the shine off this toy-horror movie’s top spot potentials. I still find it funny that the major character in the movie, MIA’s birth name is Annabelle, hope she’s been able to sleep since this movie was made.
If you’ve been a doll fan since Toy story, “Annabelle” might take you to another level, why? Annabelle is the dreaded “Chucky” doll’s hybrid!
On a Scale of 0 – 10, this movie is a 7.7.
Music
FLAWLESS RMX
Beyonce ft. Nicki Minaj, Chimamanda Adichie
Beyonce’s likeness of her husband’s antics of featuring reigning singers in their tracks to always remain relevant with their good music can’t be overlooked after the release of flawless. The song is no doubt a good one and infusing female rap’s most-relevant act made it a great one. Can we just say in the words of Bey’ that “bow down b*t*hes!!!
The song which was dropped in August had her performing it with Nicki Minaj on stage in September, so can we say the music video (October 6th 2014)coming after JLo dropped a music video featuring IGGY Azalea in what appeared like a Nicki Minaj diss is… or does this have anything to do with Nicki Minaj being on more than a song on Billboard’s Top 10 now? By the way, which do you think is better, JLo and IGGY’s or Beyonce and Nicki’s?
On a Scale of 0 -10, this song is an 8.
MY DARLING
Tiwa Savage
After the rumoured hitch in Tiwa Savage’s young marriage with former manager, Tee Billz, the beautiful Mavin first lady decided to address both her relationship and the so-called rumours via a track and what better song than this new single titled, “My Darling”. The Mavin BOSS, Don Jazzy like it is his trademark has made the song every fans own by personalizing it, so if you consider the social media frenzy trailing this song, then… This track might not beat her earlier single, “Colours of Love”, but thanks to “Don Baba Jay”, “My darling” has beaten all other of her songs to second place today on social media.
On a Scale of 0 -10, this Song is a 5.5.
