Renowned Nigerian poet and emeritus professor, John Pepper Clark is dead. He was aged 85.
Condolences have been pouring to the family of the Literary icon. A statement released by Clark’s family disclosed that he died in the early hours of Tuesday October 13 while thanking the general public for their prayers.
“The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce that Emeritus Professor of Literature and Renowned Writer, Prof. John Pepper Clark, has finally dropped his pen in the early hours of today, Tuesday, 13 October 2020,” the statement read.
Born John pepper Clark Bekederemo on April 6, 1935, he was one of Nigeria’s foremost anglophone dramatists and poets. He received his early education at the Native Administration School and the Government College in Ughelli.
