There is no way you can be in any relationship and all you do is take. Every relationship is all about ‘give and take’. Basically, you give and take because you love, accept, like and value the other person. When it becomes one-sided, it can be draining. Most times, such relationships that the focus is only on receiving ends up rotting away.
When it comes to romantic relationships, both partners have to be givers. In a case, that one partner is stingy, that may be a bad sign. Giving is an act of love. If you have a stingy partner, here is how to turn it around:
1. Have a talk with your partner
This is the first base of all relationship issues. Sometimes people do some wrong things, not with the intention to hurt, but because they think it is the right thing to do. By refusing to say anything and pretending all is fine would not help. So whether it is his stinginess or something else, do not hesitate to talk to them about it first. Then try to give your partner the opportunity to turn a new leaf`.
2. Give your partner stuff
There is also something to be said by ‘leading by example.’ In the present case, look for things they need, the gifts they’ll find most useful, then give them as much of that as you can find. A good way to teach people how to relate with you is to relate with them in that same manner. Of course, it does not mean that they will get the clue and treat you like that, too, but it’s a step worth taking. Hopefully, your partner understands and gets your drift.
3. Make your own money
Please empower yourself financially so you are not needy. You’re not asking for too much if you want a man/ woman to share material things with you. And especially if your love language is getting gifts, that statement becomes a lot more accurate. Making your own money and being able to afford gifts and other stuff for your partner, no matter how little, gives the relationship a feel of mutuality rather than parasitism.
