When it comes to gadgets, things have changed drastically; what used to be the in-thing is now old news. We aren’t perturbed about it, though; it’s the cycle of life. The Brick Game
Every kid that didn’t have the luxury to afford a Playstation or Game Boy, opted for brick games because they were portable and attainable options.
Walkman
Before the iPhones and the androids, the Walkman device was our go-to music saviour. This device was for the upmarket cool kids and those who couldn’t afford to buy one coveted it.
VHS
Before CD’s there were Video Cassettes and it was found in most Nigerian homes. Homes that didn’t have this were void of proper entertainment because local TV stations lacked elements of fun.
The black and white TV
Okay, if there’s one thing we are grateful for, it is the evolution of the television. From box-shaped black and white TV’s that had to be hit several times to capture signal for a few seconds to flat-screen coloured LCD TV’s. Life is surely good.
PlayStation, Game Boy, Nintendo…
There was a huge wave of video games in the 90’s, disrupting the idyllic and rustic game scene of most kids. But it was a welcome innovation, because it kept kids indoors, for a change. Most of the popular games were Super Mario Brothers, Mortal Kombat, Duke Nukem, Street Fighter, Tekken, and Crash Team Racing for those who couldn’t master the control keys enough to throw a punch.
